Help

ReadWrite reads and transcribes handwritten or printed notes and interprets images from photos and PDFs. Everything lives in your account — searchable, organizable, and optionally shareable.

Scanning notes

From the home screen, add up to 10 images or PDFs using drag-and-drop, the Choose Files button, or Camera for a live photo. Thumbnails appear below the file count so you can review your selection and remove individual files with ×.

Optionally type instructions in the text box — for example: translate to English, total all dollar amounts, or list action items.

Tap Scan Files. The AI reads your files and returns a title, summary, and full transcription. Review the results, then tap Save Note to keep them.

My Notes

The folder icon opens your saved notes as a browsable card list.

  • Search — filters by title, summary, or content as you type.
  • Visibility filter (All / unlock / person / eye) — narrows to notes of a specific visibility level.
  • Notebook filter — dropdown below the search bar; choose a notebook to see only notes in that group.

Tap a card to open the note. Tap Edit on the card to go directly to the edit view.

Notebooks

Notebooks let you group notes into named collections. A note can belong to multiple notebooks.

  • Tap the book icon in the header to open the Notebooks page.
  • Tap + New Notebook to create one. Tap a notebook's title to see its notes in My Notes.
  • On the Notebooks page, tap the checkmark button on a notebook to open its notes panel — search and check or uncheck notes to add or remove them from that notebook.
  • On a saved note's page, the Notebooks card shows checkboxes for all your notebooks — check or uncheck to add or remove the note. Changes save immediately.
  • Search and sort — use the search input and A–Z / Date sort at the top of the Notebooks page to filter and order your notebooks.
  • System notebooks — four read-only notebooks always appear at the bottom of the list: Public, Login restricted, Only me, and Unpublished. They group your notes by visibility automatically and cannot be assigned manually.
  • Public notebook URL — tap the chain-link button on a notebook card to enable a friendly public URL (e.g. /published/my-notebook). When active, a URL row appears with a link, an editable slug, and a copy button. Tap the chain-link again to remove the URL. Visitors who click through to a note from a notebook's published list see the ReadWrite logo link back to that notebook, not the main list.
Publishing & sharing

Any saved note can be published to a shareable web page.

  • On the note's results page, open the Publish card and choose what to show (images, summary, transcription, etc.) and the visibility:
    • Public — anyone with the link can view
    • Members only — viewers must sign in to ReadWrite
    • Private — only you can see it (default)
  • Tap Publish to generate a shareable link (e.g. /share/my-note-title).
  • On the share page, the share button (upload arrow icon) opens a native share sheet on mobile, or copies the link on desktop.
  • Your published list (globe icon) collects all published notes on one page — enable it in Settings. Visitors can filter by notebook if you turn on the notebook filter in Settings.
  • Notebook context — when browsing a notebook's published list and clicking through to a note, the ReadWrite logo on the share page links back to that notebook's list, not the main published list.
Settings
  • Template — controls the look of your share pages: Minimal, Bold, or Magazine.
  • Logo — show or hide the ReadWrite logo on share pages.
  • Story list title — the heading shown at the top of your published list page.
  • Published list — enable to make your published list page publicly accessible via the globe link.
  • Notebook filter — show a notebook filter dropdown to all visitors on your published list page (you always see it as the owner).
